10 Benefits of Greenery and House Plants

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

Since the winter season has arrived, now more than ever there is a great need for plants in our home and work environments. Why? Well, for starters, they have a great deal of wellness benefits for a person, both mentally and physically.

You might be thinking, "Pfft, what could a silly little succulent do for me that I can't do for myself?"

Here's a short list:

  1. Plants purify the air!

  2. Decrease stress and anxiety!

  3. Decrease blood pressure!

  4. They make your space more inviting and homey!

  5. They help you feel healthy, lessen depression too!

  6. They can improve your sleep.

  7. Plants are natural humidifiers.

  8. You'll feel accomplished having something to take care of.

  9. They help promote healing. Ever head of plant medicine?

  10. Increase your creativity!

It is believed that part of the reason why people tend to be more vulnerable to ailments during the fall and winter season is not just from shorter days and less sunshine - though that does play a significant role. It can also be attributed to the shedding of the leaves from the trees. As you may well know, trees do an incredible job of purifying the air around us. When they lose their leaves, their ability to purify the air is lesser.

I don't know if you are anything like me, but my house has a bit of mini terrarium! Our entire main floor has well over 20 different types of greenery! From money an umbrella trees, to tropical grasses, indoor roses, ivy, mini petunias (and you can bet that I keep those blooming year round - because, well, I can and I love them!), it brings me a lot of joy and happiness especially during the short, grey days of winter.

Having a plant (or 10!) in your home or office space does so much more than listed above! Don't take my word for it, try it out for yourself!
